COVID-19 INFORMATION - LEARN MORE
If you suspect your child may have autism, ask your pediatrician for an initial referral with a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. You may be asked to fill out the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADIR).
Most insurance companies require a medical diagnosis of autism before approving payment of ABA therapy.
Call your insurance company to determine if and how much they will pay for ABA therapy.
After the medical diagnosis of autism is obtained, an assessment of your child’s strengths and weaknesses will be conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This assessment is conducted to help the BCBA develop a treatment plan for your child’s ABA therapy.
After the BCBA completes the assessment, a treatment plan is developed to determine the program goals and targets for your child’s therapy. Your input into the treatment plan is welcome.
After the insurance company authorizes the treatment plan, therapy will be provided by a behavior technician and supervised by a BCBA. Therapy may take place in the home, or community. Discuss with your treatment team the best hours for therapy, your child’s preferences that can be used for reinforcement, and arrange a quiet location in your home where therapy can occur.
